ODE TO THE SENIORS

The outlook wasn't bright for the Maroon and White that day,

The score line read two to two, the lead had gotten away.

Overtime, then a shootout loomed, folks sighed with great despair,

Perhaps a miracle strike would come about to somehow clear the air.

The team played on with outstanding courage, hope and passion,

If only we could find a way to victory, something that was quite in fashion.

As time moved on the coaches cheered "just keep that offense snappin',"

A breakaway, a shot on goal might make that miracle happen.

Alas that day was not the day for metaphysical action,

A trip to OT and PK land did not bring satisfaction.

And thus the season ended, bitter sweet for those seniors who are departing,

But don't forget the joyful times which are so highly regarded.

Cam got a call-get ready set to-which was quite unexpected,

When Britt kicked quick, Cam was the pick to keep the nets well guarded.

For many years Alexa and Annie would prowl the back, to keep our D well minded,

And day to day in a wondrous way, Hailey and Emma would join them.

Rosie flew like lightning while Margot held her course,

And Brooke solidified the defense and Val worked like a horse.

Juliana had some speed to burn and Ally added offense,

Katie worked hard every day to try to make a difference.

Upfront the energizer bunny, Riley is her name,

Always made it fun to watch other defenses go insane.

Hannah, the engine that could, after many years of mishap,

came back to play in a special way, we won't forget the name of Cermack.

We thank you ladies one and all, for all of your dedicated service.

You brought great pride to our fine side, while you made your parents quite nervous.

We'll always apprecite your efforts, and remember you in special ways,

You are a group that saw it through, with class, each and every day.

For four years you've gained from your misfortunes, to become victorious too,

And when it's done you've had some fun and learned a thing or two.

Persevere and go after, what you really want and see,

And say with pride, I know inside, I really do believe!

Please remember us as years roll by and know you have a space,

On our family bench, that you have earned, in this special place.

Best wishes for great success in all that you may do,

And it is with joy and a touch of sadness we bid a fond adieu.
